Throughout the summer, Shaylanne McQueen, a Visiting Research Summer Student in our lab, facilitated three Maternal Behavior Q-Sort (MBQS) training workshops for lab members.

This workshop series was developed to support research trainees to learn the foundations of MBQS coding and to build reliable observational coding practices for studies of caregiver sensitivity and parent–child interactions. Participants were introduced to the theoretical background of MBQS, the Q-Sort methodology, coding procedures, and reliability standards commonly used in developmental and attachment research.

This series represents a first step in a broader knowledge-mobilization project—part of the Care Collaboration—aimed at increasing the accessibility of MBQS training through the development of online resources.

Shaylanne received MBQS training in Quebec under the supervision of Dr. George Tarabulsy (Université Laval) and has used the MBQS extensively through her involvement in several research laboratories and developmental research projects.

We thank Shaylanne for this valuable contribution to trainee development and to our lab’s ongoing efforts to promote rigorous and accessible observational research methods.
