Gizem Presents Child Mental Health Research at Postdoc Showcase

Last week, Dr. Gizem Keskin, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in our lab, presented “A Multimethod Lens on Developmental Cascades in Child Mental Health” at UCalgary’s Arts Postdoc Research Showcase.

Gizem’s research examines family dynamics, caregiver–child interactions, and the emotional development of caregivers and children across childhood and adolescence. Working from a dynamic systems perspective, she studies development at multiple time scales, from moment-to-moment interactions to changes unfolding across years. This work emphasizes a transdisciplinary approach, integrating biological, psychological, and social factors to understand that mental health problems don’t exist in isolation but are shaped by puberty, technology use, family history, and intergenerational patterns.

Gizem’s research is primarily conducted within the All Our Families Study, contributing to a deeper understanding of developmental cascades in child mental health. Her research also contributes meta-analytic research to ACEs hub. Gizem is supervised by the lab’s Director, Dr. Sheri Madigan, and Dr. André Plamondon of Université Laval.

Way to go Gizem!
