We are excited to celebrate Raela Thiemann’s graduation. Raela completed her Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Sheri Madigan and convocated on November 12, 2025. Raela will continue her training in research and clinical excellence through the university’s continual PhD program.
Raela’s thesis focused on the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and depression in adulthood, including how indices of socioeconomic status (SES) mediate this association. Using meta-analytic structural equation modelling (MASEM), her work offers novel insights on the magnitude of these pathways across unique studies and populations, informing research and policy on mental health support for those exposed to early adversity. Raela plans to extend this research through her PhD dissertation, which will focus on digital health solutions to early trauma interventions.
Raela’s Master’s research was supported by a Canada Graduate Research Scholarship (CIHR), an Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship, and a Charlie Fischer Scholarship for Patient-Centered Research through Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI).
Congratulations, Raela, on this incredible achievement. We look forward to seeing the impact and growth of your work as you continue your graduate training!
