Team Publishes Meta-analyses of 1,002 studies on the Prevalence of ACEs in Lancet Public Health

Earlier this week, our team published a set of groundbreaking meta-analyses on the individual prevalence of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in The Lancet Public Health. This project, led by our Director, Dr. Sheri Madigan, was a huge collaborative effort. Co-authors of the study include current and former lab members, as well as additional researchers from Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Ireland.

Focusing on the percentage of individuals who have experienced individual ACEs, such as physical abuse or neglect, this project resulted in the largest meta-analyses conducted to date, with 1,002 studies across 102 countries and over 2.6 million adults included. This intensive project involved extensive article screening, data extraction, and rigorous data analyses.

In parallel to the release of the publication, the lab also launched an interactive data visualization tool for exploring the prevalence of ACEs. Drawing on data presented in the paper, it allows users to explore the prevalence of ACEs across geographic regions and demographic factors.

We invite you to explore the new tool and paper.
